But I don't think he reads it carefully.
i've been a devoted reader of world socialist web site (wsws), since about april 1999. i spent a lot of time digging through the web for political sites during the kosovo intervention by nato.
this site (finally) changed my view on the world to my liking. that means: it gave me, with some further reading, some principles (with which i can agree), on how to interpret world events. and -- no doubt -- made me throw away a lot of misbeliefs.

Based on very one-sided interpretations of Darwinian biology (in areas such as sociobiology and evolutionary psychology), many now deem it unacceptable if not impossible for human society to base itself on such an ability to change the natural and social world.
.... Some have concluded from this the impossibility of developing any rational philosophy at all--the postmodernists. Animal liberationists have concluded that man as a species must be indicted for all the "crimes" of the twentieth century--"crimes"

The fact, that these are reactions at a question from a reader, means that the explanation is for advanced readers, i guess. The author explains better, in that situation.
I like to present articles, which i find illuminating, to my friends, who i think have some opinion on the topic.
In these articles, a completely new to me topic is raised; that of Haiti:

Some will conclude that the population has accepted the administration, the war and all the rest, and throw up their hands. Other left elements may not go so far, but work in quiet desperation, not confident of encountering support. .......
