terminology

I find, i might annoy by repeating mutlit-word expression. Here i want to define them, and maybe sometime i'll talk about them more easily.

X-device

an abstract source of events going to client applicatons (over the X protocol) 2 X-devices are distinguishable by the client. Client can grab them. specified in the XF86Config file.

Medved

"x device" handled by the medved driver

kernel device

source of input accessible through the /dev/input/eventXX files/nodes in linux kernel

physical device

Some physical devices are accessed via 2 kernel devices: the multimedia keys are separate.
