1) DRI is Direct Rendering Infrastructure - a kernel interface to allow video drivers to do DMA to the video hardware The Matrox driver included in XFree86 uses DRI. The Matrox driver on their website - which is open source (or was last I checked) uses DRI also. i didn't knew that Either of the 2 drivers, if compiled with the option, may also permit loading of the Matrox proprietary binary only "hallib" as i said, i never had any matrox ;-) The option is "UseMatroxHallib"
just try to use the XFree86 driver or either one without the hallib or sth else maybe you figure it out Actually.. "UseMatroxHal" *** azul (~verde@200.94.162.131) has joined channel #xfree86 or with the hallib In order to use the hallib though, it must be installed correctly, and your mga driver must be compiled with "UseMatroxHal" or it will be ignored. hmmm, sounds like it's worth a try If you're using hardware older than G400, the hallib most likely wont do anything.
