sawfish: news on my development branch

This page is about a fork of sawfish

(for support via irc: mmc @ #sawfish on chat.freenode.net)

[12 gen 06] Reworking hooks (active instead of passive: act while doing X requests rather than when confirming X event arrives).

[06 dic 2005] 1.4.4 after a few emails on "disappearing windows" under xinerama + stock sawfish combination, it seems my version solves the problem:

oknowton: For all I know your version handles it gracefully
oknowton: thank you very much. Your sawfish-mmc-1.4.4 isn't losing any windows
oknowton: You have no idea how relieved I am right now :). I was very scared that I would have to change window managers, and I don't know what I would do if I had to do that.

Thanks to oknowton (Pat) there are ubuntu packages "deb http://patshead.com/ubuntu/ breezy contrib", and also a darcs repository:

Customizing mmc.xterm

after years, I start to use the `custom' system (to config my packages via GUI). I was stuck b/c unable to restore the configurability for viewport-dimensions until (a month ago, while making the gauche-based replacement for sawfish-ui) I discovered that some variables not only lost their defcustom definition, but were explicitely banned (to phase-out the value in the users' custom files) ... in sawfish.wm.util.compat
